Giving the Spiritual Exercises in Covid

We believe! God is now found in a Zoom

Apostolic purpose never ceases to find its way in us

We are ‘solus’ in a universal desire for peace and renewal

In igniting the fire of the Messiah and his friend Ignatius

We do not dive alone, we chose to be a community of sailors

Not in solitude but in a commonality of mission and vision

We delve into reminiscing in people’s heart

That prime purpose of God filled with love

Of glorifying, praising, devoting, and reverencing His majesty

By living together and growing in parallel with His other creatures

But, we may run the danger of perishing during these troubled times

Of the new normal of peoples forced to retreat in their countries and homes

The glorious UAPs became a common challenge in a world now “coronized.”

But the mission that sets us on fire refused to give up, thus in miracles we trust.

Who would think that the intelligence given to mankind would reach new ways of preaching?

Before the iPhone era, the bible and book of saints were the sources of our morning routine

Today we wake up in the morning, in great hope and rescue our phones from under the pillow

And the next thing we find ourselves in, is on someone’s WhatsApp Status or Instagram Story

There we contemplate, already posted, early in the morning, a biblical or a spiritual meditation

Suddenly, we find ourselves praying and thanking God because we are not yet lost in this world

We are making oracles via iPod and proclaiming the gospel on our various online platforms

Who can tell how many viewers have our virtual sermons reached?

Who can count the number of screenshots reposted amplifying the number of Gospel spectators?

Humbly and unknowingly, we became the prophets of our digital generation

The boat we sail on to reach out to people is now at rest, Wi-Fi is our new way of transportation

However, it is true that Covid 19 pandemic brought us back to You in supplication, O Lord

Even though our ecology seems to be renewed due to the fear of polluters coming out

We play our gospel songs in our expensive Samsung while our hearts are broken in a blue

Yes, we believe in the power of the internet because God is now found in a Zoom

But how can we reach the poor who cannot afford phones or get in an audio-visual room?

Dear Lord, may these spiritual and virtual rhymes serve the world as food for meditation.
