POPE’S INTENTION FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER
Daily Offering:
God, our Father, I offer you my day; I offer you my prayers, thoughts, words, actions, joys and sufferings in union with your Son Jesus Christ who continues to offer himself in the Eucharist, for the salvation of the world. May the Holy Spirit who guided Jesus, be my guide and my strength today so that I may witness to your love. With Mary, the Mother of the Lord and of the Church. I pray especially for this month’s intention as proposed by the Holy Father:
Pope’s Prayer Intention for the Month of November:
For Children who Suffer: We pray for children who are suffering, especially those who are homeless, orphans, and victims of war; may they be guaranteed access to education and the opportunity to experience family affection. Amen.
Reflection
Child trafficking, child soldiering, domestic violence, sexual abuse, child marriages just to mention a few, pose great danger to the dignity and wellbeing of children in our societies. Juvenile delinquency, homelessness and streetism as a result of broken homes, wars, conflicts, severe climatic conditions, natural disasters, and pandemics are also real for children living in our world today. These unfavorable and harsh realities deprive them of the essentials of life including quality education and healthcare which everyone desires.
In all of these situations, we find a loving God who is constantly present with children; who identifies with them and desires to see them have life to the fullest. What then is the place of individuals, families, religious bodies and organizations, governmental and non-governmental agencies in ensuring that children of today enjoy their childhood experiences? In what ways can we give them hope and a better future? How can we restore their peace, faith and confidence?
Education is a treasure we can give to our children. Investing in the education of our children now is investing in the future. A family space provides a unique environment where children undergo the first school of love. Familial affection is very crucial in the integral development of children, preparing them for roles as responsible and loving adults. Let us pray that the education of children will be guaranteed regardless of circumstances and that all children should be accorded the opportunity to experience familial affection. Amen
