Tuning to the news nowadays, all we hear is about war, abuse, torture, and total unrest for people moving from one place to another in search of peace. This is disheartening and it leads us to ask ourselves, where is God in all of this? Why is he not answering or prayers? Many are secluded, living in poverty whilst others are living a lavishing life. If we pause and reflect for a moment, we realize that God answered our prayers by making us aware of the help and support these people are in dire need of.
The second question is; what are we doing about it? We give thanks to the grace of God and the Holy Spirit that has led the Society of Jesus to come up with the UAPs. God has responded through us and asks us to take action. Paul writes to the Galatians, “ Only we were to be mindful of the poor which is the very thing I was eager to do.” (Galatians 2:10) We are called to have the same spirit of eagerness and be available and be of service to those in need as we are men and women for and with others.
